Ombre. Reason #1 I Could Never Be A Fashion Blogger.

There are many reasons I could never be a fashion blogger, one of which is the toddler I chase in forgiving, wash 'n dry cotton. And by forgiving wash 'n dry cotton, I mean old, stretched out running performance gear and race shirts.

However, mommyhood is a lame excuse because fashion trends frequently confuse me. Sometimes I adapt, as was the case with the pointy-toed shoe phenomenon, othertimes I ignore as is the case with the current nail decor rage.

Still othertimes, I am so confounded that I think the stylists are all on sabbatical.

For months, I've been flipping through Us Weekly and loudly exclaiming my disgust with the ladies' hair, "What's up with her roots?" I've yelled at my husband, "Why didn't her people fix this?"

Turns out, letting your roots grow out is now on trend and has a fancy French name to go with it. Here is the "ombre" style, formerly known as the "go get a highlight because your roots are over two inches long" style.

Pics I have no rights to. Fashion bloggers probably would.
Were I a fashion blogger, I would have known my half blonde, half mousy brown hair was on trend and never boldly dyed it dark brown. The error of my ways is illustrated below.

Pics that are sadly of me. Fashion bloggers would never post these.
I am not knocking fashion or fashion bloggers, but rather, expressing awe at their ability to keep up with trends and then be bold enough to test them out.

So, for the next few days I will share, via exhibit, several more reasons why I could never be a fashion blogger.

Join the fun! Could you be a fashion blogger?

    1. I am so, so, so confused by it. My jaw dropped when I heard about "ombre" and realized people were trying to do this to their hair. Like on purpose.

  2. Ba ha ha I love fashion and read many blogs but I don't have the commitment to dress cool all the time! Also I rarely wear make up or do my hair which is a huge fashion faux pas. So what do you have in mind then???

    1. I miss getting dressed for work, but somedays it's nice to not have to worry about it!

For the next few days I am just going to be taking pictures of more reasons why I could not blog about fashion. Trust me, it's not hard to find dozens of applicable pics!

  3. When ombre started getting popular, I assumed I started the trend back when I was in college and was too poor to get my highlights updated. ;)

    1. I bet it is incredibly expensive to go "ombre" style. I'm sure my grown out highlight was all wrong.

  4. Love this post. I actually am a fashion blogger but I like to think of my blog as the academic side of fashion and try to stay away from post that's just say "oh this skirt is cute" . I actually feel the same way about the ombré trend & have it going on right now bc I have bee too lazy (broke) to dye my hair lol

Love you blog. Found you on SITs sharefest!

  5. Love your Blog - you are hysterical! I agree with you about the Ombre style, was wondering what was going on myself down here in Jamaica. We do not have that trend going here thank goodness!
I know what you mean about having a "big" job/career and then letting go for more important reasons - I did the same, though not to be a stay at home mom, but just to "catch myself" :-)
Keep up the good work here, loving your Blog!

    All the best,

  6. Ha! Great post-I am here from SITS share fest! I could never be a fashion blogger because I do not know how they have all that money to put together so many cute outfits! I guess some of it they get for free? Maybe I need to learn how to better "shop my own closet"!

    1. No kidding! The money or the time. I did write about that and all my free gear. I don't think anyone is buying my "sponsored" looks, though.

  7. Found you on the SITS Sharefest and I love this!

Reason why I couldn't be a fashion blogger: I feel funny taking pictures of myself. It always seems like a fun idea but then I take them and I look like a dummy. What face do I make? What do I do with my hands? It's all so weird.

Ad I'm rocking ombré right now. Oh, not on purpose. Just because I don't know what to do with my hair so I've chosen to do nothing. It's all the rage.

    1. I hear you! I cannot take pictures of myself. It's just weird and since it's a requirement of the fashion blogging world, I'm just going to let the dream die.

I feel like all the stylists in Hollywood are conspiring. They're sick of doing anything and have just given up. Cue "ombre."

  9. Some days I think of myself as a fashion blogger. I don't write about it every day but when I find something fashion related I blog about it. And I did major in fashion. As far as trends go, sometimes I'm on the wagon and other times off the wagon doing my own thing.

    1. Lady, if you majored in it, you're legit! I don't think half the fashion bloggers do much more than read Lucky.

  10. Ombre is the dumbest thing in the world. Haha. I love this post.
I didn't realize it was "ombre" until the trend was over. Oh well, we all can't be fashion forward, right?
Stopping by from SITS! Hi there!

  11. Ooooh I am on trend as well! I've got a solid 2" of gray roots and then the rest is red. HOT!!!

(and yes, my hair seriously is gray. It's been that way since I was 16!)
